23rd Annual SANA Convention In Orlando, FL June 29 – July 2

Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) is holding its 23rd annual convention in Orlando, Florida, USA from June 29 to July 2. A large number of community members from the US and Canada will attend the convention. A number of delegates from Sindh, other parts of Pakistan, Europe and other areas are also expected to participate in the convention.

It may be noted that a SANA convention is historically the most popular and a major event for Sindhi community in North America. The convention this year is being organized with the theme of “Rivers For Life: Save Indus River”. Experts from Sindh and the US will speak on different aspects of water issue in Pakistan.

The Convention will also focus, among other things, on the present state of affairs in Pakistan, the continued denial of social, cultural, democratic and human rights to the people and the attacks on judiciary, media, minorities and women.

A number of human rights activists and political leaders have been invited to speak at the convention.

SANA has also invited the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to attend and speak at the convention on the independence of judiciary.

Special features of the convention this year include a lecture by renowned archaeologist and paleontologist Professor Dr Paolo Biagi on the prehistory Sindh based on his years of research and excavations in Rohri and other areas in Sindh.

Chancellor of Isra University, Professor Dr Ghulam Qadir Kazi will be one of the other main speakers at the convention.

The three-day convention would also have programs for youth and women as well as literary and cultural sessions, business workshop, medical seminar, a meeting on the status of education in Sindh, general body session and Executive and Advisory Council meeting.

Two nights of Sindhi folk and mystical music have also been arranged. The invited artists include versatile singers Sadiq Faqir, Deeba Sehar and Kajal Chandiramani.

An awards ceremony for talented students and other community members who have extraordinary achievements to their credit will also take place.
